MediaTek Dimensity 6100 Plus
MediaTek just unveiled an upgraded version of their popular midrange Dimensity 6100 chip called the MediaTek Dimensity 6100 Plus. As an affordable performance option, this new Dimensity catches my eye.
Like the base 6100, the 6100+ packs an octa-core CPU with 2 Arm Cortex-A76 big cores and 6 little Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. Clock speeds get a nice bump to 2.2 GHz though for better response.
The Dimensity 6100+ also enhances the GPU from a 2-core to a 4-core Mali-G57 for smoother visuals in games and media. Memory support is improved as well.
While not revolutionary, MediaTek appears to be extracting some very solid performance and efficiency gains from this enhanced 6100+ without raising much costs.
Its expected that the Dimensity 6100+ will power affordable phones with great displays, cameras, and 5G connectivity at an accessible price point. This Dimensity line has quietly become a workhorse mobile chipset internationally.
