Tecno Pocket Go Unveiled at MWC 2024: All You Should Know

Chinese smartphone brand Tecno expanded beyond just phones at MWC 2024 with the unveiling of the Tecno Pocket Go, a handheld AR gaming device. The Pocket Go takes a unique approach compared to traditional handheld gaming consoles.

The Tecno Pocket Go is comprised of two main components – a wireless controller and AR glasses called AR Pocket Vision. This allows the Pocket Go to deliver an immersive AR gaming experience different from standard handhelds.

The controller has an Xbox-style button and trigger layout along with a directional pad. Tecno claims the controller is 50% smaller and 30% lighter compared to controllers of Windows handheld gaming PCs like the ASUS ROG Ally.

Powering the experience is an AMD Ryzen 7 8840 HS processor clocked at 5.1GHz paired with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. The Pocket Go runs on Windows for access to popular games. A large 50Wh replaceable battery fuels potentially long gaming sessions.

The AR Pocket Vision glasses feature 0.71-inch micro OLED displays capable of projecting a 215-inch screen when viewed from 6 meters away. The glasses have adjustable diopters to accommodate different vision prescriptions.

Tecno says the Pocket Go delivers features like 6D immersive gaming, vision tracking, posture detection, haptic feedback, and more for an engaging AR experience. It can also be used as a workstation by connecting with other Tecno devices.

Pricing and availability details for the uniquely designed Tecno Pocket Go are unclear for now. The handheld gaming device was announced alongside the POVA 6 Pro smartphone at MWC 2024. It represents Tecno’s first foray into gaming and could offer a differentiated AR gaming experience compared to standard handhelds.
