Vivo X100 Pro Gets 4K Selfie Video Support in China Software Update

Vivo X100 Pro Gets 4K Selfie Video Support in China Software Update. Vivo has started rolling out a noteworthy camera update for its latest X100 Pro flagship phone in China. The new OriginOS software builds version 14.0.14.6, most notably enabling 4K quality video from the front-facing camera, answering user requests.

Introduced last November in China and January internationally, the Vivo X100 Pro packs high-end specs like a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, fast charging, and a stellar rear camera system. However, its front 32MP selfie camera strangely lacked support for 4K video initially, despite the hardware capability being there.

Competitor flagships like the Xiaomi 14 Pro and Oppo Find X7 Ultra have touted 4K selfie video recording as a key feature. Vivo appears to have listened to consumer feedback by adding 4K selfie video options with the OriginOS 14 update.

OriginOS 14.0.14.6 Changelog Highlights

Here are some of the key improvements and fixes within the latest OriginOS build for the Chinese Vivo X100 Pro:

  • Added “4K 30fps” and “4K 60fps” front camera video modes
  • Optimized rear camera photo clarity and portrait bokeh accuracy
  • Enhanced Bluetooth car kit connectivity stability
  • Fixed occasional home screen display issues
  • Squashed abnormal battery drain problems on standby

With the selfie camera now able to capture 4K footage at up to 60fps, Vivo X100 Pro owners can record dramatic high-resolution videos of themselves. Paired with the phone’s leading image stabilization and Night Mode capabilities, selfie quality should match or exceed rivals.

Other photography upgrades come for the rear triple camera array, with boosted clarity and portraits. System stability tweaks should also translate into a smoother general experience for X100 Pro users in China.

Global Rollout Expectations

Since the X100 Pro’s international variant runs Vivo’s FunTouch OS software instead of OriginOS, the new 4K selfie video feature may take longer to propagate globally. But given its flagship status with shared hardware, global users should expect a similar FunTouch OS update enabling 4K front camera videos soon.

With top Chinese OEMs battling closely, offering class-leading camera tech can sway purchase decisions. By elevating the X100 Pro’s selfie prowess to match internal hardware’s potential, this OriginOS update could help Vivo better compete for discerning shoppers wanting photography excellence. We’ll have to see if the firmware makes its way abroad.
