Samsung Unveils Galaxy Fit 3 Fitness Tracker with larger display and battery

Samsung has officially launched its latest fitness tracker, the Galaxy Fit 3, as the successor to the Galaxy Fit 2 from 2020. The new wearable device has upgrades like a larger display and battery while retaining the slim and lightweight design.

Display and Design

The Galaxy Fit 3 features a 1.57-inch AMOLED display, a noticeable increase over the 1.1-inch screen of its predecessor. The vivid panel can be customized with over 100 different watch faces via the Galaxy Wearable app.

It has a familiar and compact design with an aluminium frame and silicone bands. The bands come in three color options – Gray, Silver, and Pink Gold. With 5ATM and IP68 water and dust resistance, the fitness tracker is swim-proof and can be worn all day.

Galaxy Fit 3 Fitness Tracking Features

The Galaxy Fit 3 is equipped with various sensors to enable health and activity tracking. These include an accelerometer, a gyroscope, and a heart rate monitor.

It can track heart rate, sleep patterns, stress levels, SpO2, and over 90 workout modes. The collected health metrics and data can be checked on the paired smartphone through the Samsung Health app.

Battery Life

While Samsung hasn’t revealed the exact battery capacity, the company claims a typical usage time of up to 13 days on a single charge. For comparison, the previous Galaxy Fit 2 was rated for 15 days and packed a 159 mAh battery.

Additional Features

Despite the compact form factor, the Galaxy Fit 3 packs some smartwatch-level features. These include notifications for calls, messages, apps, and social media.

Safety and convenience features like Fall Detection, Emergency SOS, and remote camera control are also present. However, built-in GPS and NFC are missing.

Galaxy Fit 3 Pricing and Availability

Samsung has scheduled the Galaxy Fit 3 to go on sale starting February 23 in select markets, including Asia, Central America, South America, and Europe. The pricing hasn’t been announced yet.

Given the upgrades and the positioning as an affordable fitness tracker, we can expect the Galaxy Fit 3 to carry a modest price tag. For context, the Galaxy Fit 2 launched at $60.

Conclusion

The Galaxy Fit 3 delivers incremental but useful upgrades like a larger and sharper AMOLED display, longer 13-day battery life, and new color options. The smart fitness tracker packs an array of sensors and health-tracking features at what will likely be an affordable price point. For consumers seeking a compact and capable wearable without too many bells and whistles, the Galaxy Fit 3 makes for an appealing overall package.
