Nubia Flip 5G Foldable Phone at MWC 2024. Chinese smartphone maker Nubia has announced that it will unveil its first foldable smartphone, the Nubia Flip 5G, at the upcoming MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2024 tech trade show in Barcelona.
Clamshell-style Foldable Design
Through a teaser posted on Weibo, Nubia revealed that the Flip 5G will sport a clamshell-style foldable design that folds vertically to shrink into a compact form factor. When opened, it is expected to flaunt a tall and slim foldable display on the inside.
The teaser image shows off a secondary circular display on the outside above the rear camera module, similar to the recently launched ZTE Libero Flip. This hints that the Nubia Flip 5G may become a rebranded global variant of the Libero Flip.
Expected Specifications
If the leaked info is accurate, the Nubia Flip 5G will have a 6.9-inch Full HD+ foldable AMOLED inner display and a secondary 1.43-inch circular AMOLED cover screen.
Under the hood, it could pack the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset with 6GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. Cameras may include a 50MP main + 2MP depth + 16MP selfie camera setup. The phone could run Android 14 OS out of the box.
Other details surfaced via certification listings indicate 33W fast charging support and 5G connectivity. However, we’ll have to wait for MWC 2024 for the official details.
Nubia Flip 5G Launch Date and Event Details
Nubia has confirmed that it will unveil the Flip 5G foldable phone at its MWC 2024 launch event scheduled for February 26 in Barcelona, Spain.
The annual MWC trade show brings together major players in the mobile industry to showcase upcoming 5G devices and technologies. Other brands like Oppo and HONOR have launch events lined up for MWC this year.
Pricing and Availability
Nubia is expected to announce the pricing and availability details for the Flip 5G at the global launch. Given its specifications and form factor, it will likely be considered an upper mid-range foldable phone.
While foldables remain niche, they are slowly gaining traction globally thanks to lowering costs and incremental design improvements. Nubia’s foray into this segment with the slick Flip 5G aims to capitalize on this trend.
