The Alcatel JOY TAB 2 is powered by a 2GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of expandable storage. The tablet features an 8-inch IPS display with HD resolution and a 4,080 mAh battery that claims up to 9 hours of video playback or up to 25 days of standby time (4G). The tablet has a 5-megapixel back camera and a secondary 5-megapixel selfie camera. It also runs Android 10 and has a micro-SIM card slot for phone calls.

When you turn on the Joy Tab 2, you’ll find it running a nearly stock version of Android 10 Go Edition. It’s a stripped-down version of Google’s operating system that’s ideal for low-cost tablets.

Alcatel adds a useful Kids mode pre-installed on the tablet. With a sturdy case, this would make an excellent children’s tablet.

The Joy Tab 2 is unlikely to receive an Android 11 upgrade due to its high pricing and Metro by T-Mobile carrier lock. However, Alcatel is known for providing timely security upgrades, and the tablet has received at least two patches since its release.
