Nokia’s production of the Nokia 1100, along with its closely related variants, the Nokia 1101 and Nokia 1108, resulted in the creation of a fundamental GSM mobile phone. Since its release in late 2003, the 1100 model has sold over 250 million units, making it the top-selling phone handset globally and the most popular consumer electronics device of its time. The product was unveiled on August 27th, 2003 and was subsequently phased out in September of 2009.

Nokia 1100 Price in Nigeria

Despite being produced during an era when more cutting-edge and sophisticated devices were readily available in the market, the 1100 managed to attain widespread popularity. The device was designed with a focus on emerging markets and individuals seeking basic functionality such as voice calls, SMS messaging, alarms, and reminders, without the need for advanced features. Upon its release, the Nokia 1100 was positioned as the most affordable mobile phone in the company’s product line, catering to the needs of emerging markets.

The feature set of this device bears resemblance to its predecessors, namely the 5110, 3210, and 3310 models, which enjoyed immense popularity in the global mobile phone market. These models were eventually superseded by newer handsets that boasted advanced functionalities such as cameras, polyphonic ringtones, and colour screens.

The Nokia 1100’s casing was crafted at the Nokia Design Centre located in California. The Bulgarian-American designer, Dimitre Mehandjiysky, patented the design for the US market. The DCT4 platform at Nokia Copenhagen, Denmark was the site of adaptation and porting of the software by the S30 group.
