iPhone 16 Camera Bump. Apple seems set to overhaul the camera bump design on its next-gen iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models, as per recent renders and schematics leaked online. The renders provide the first look at the alleged new vertical dual-camera layout coming to the vanilla iPhone 16 series.
iPhone 16 Pill-Shaped Dual Camera Housing
Reliable leakers MajinBuOfficial and UpInTheAir shared a set of iPhone 16 renders on Twitter flaunting a blue color finish. These clearly show a pill-shaped camera bump on the rear panel housing two camera sensors and an LED flash vertically aligned.
This is a departure from the diagonally-stacked dual camera array seen on the existing iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. The centred camera island blends seamlessly into the chassis with curved corners, as per the renders.
More Color Options Emerge
Separate renders of the alleged iPhone 16 shared by Apple Hub showcase the handset in multiple colorways. A side-by-side shot compares the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro models, the latter expected to retain the same camera hardware and design as the iPhone 15 Pro series.

Enabling Apple’s Rumored AR/VR Headset
As per rumors, the reason behind shifting to a vertical dual-camera system is to facilitate video recording for Apple’s long-rumoured AR/VR headset dubbed ‘Apple Vision‘. The headset is tipped to playback spatial videos shot on the iPhone 16 with both sensors working in tandem.
Other Specs Rumored
Besides the fresh rear camera layout, the vanilla iPhone 16 duo is tipped to offer the same 60Hz display as current models. Leaks suggest both phones will pack Apple’s next A18 Bionic chip with 8GB RAM, Wi-Fi 6E and an ‘Action’ button for quick shortcut actions.
