Sony Announces New Color Options For The PS5 Slim

Sony Announces New Color Options For The PS5 Slim. Sony has announced new color options for its popular next-generation gaming console, the PlayStation 5 (PS5) Slim. The PS5 Slim was first released in October 2023 as a slimmer and more compact version of Sony’s flagship PS5 console. Up until now, it has only been available in the classic white color scheme.

At the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Sony revealed that the PS5 Slim will now also be offered in three vibrant new color options as part of the “Deep Earth” collection. The new colors are Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver. All three feature a stylish all-matte finish instead of the white PS5’s mix of glossy and matte surfaces.

The new colored faceplates will be sold separately for $54.99 so existing PS5 Slim owners can customize their consoles. The faceplates are easy to detach and replace, allowing gamers to change up the look of their console. Matching DualSense wireless controllers in the three new colors will also be sold individually.

In addition to announcing the new colors, Sony confirmed that an all-matte black faceplate option is coming soon. Unlike the Deep Earth collection, the black colorway will be available for both the standard PS5 and PS5 Slim models.

The PS5 Slim Deep Earth collection brings more personalization and visual flair to Sony’s console. As the Sterling Silver option shows, the new colors also pay homage to previous PlayStation consoles – the original PS1 had a similar grayish tone.

Under the hood, the performance and specs of the PS5 Slim remain unchanged. It comes equipped with an AMD Ryzen CPU & GPU, 16GB of RAM, a 1TB solid-state drive, and an integrated 4K Blu-Ray disc drive (on the standard model). The new colors are purely cosmetic changes to the PS5 Slim’s exterior casing.

Gamers should expect the Deep Earth collection for the PS5 Slim to launch soon. The expanded color palette gives fans more ways to express their gaming style.
