iPhone 17 Selfie Camera May Get a Huge Upgrade – But There’s a Catch

iPhone 17 Selfie Camera Leaks. iPhone 17 will have a selfie camera from 12 to 24 megapixels. This statement was made by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The upgrade on the camera is double the resolution of current models like the iPhone 14 and 15 series.

The added megapixels will enable the iPhone 17 to capture beautiful details and textures in selfies. Ming-Chi Kuo also says Apple will use a 6-element lens to reduce contortion. Low light performance would be improved as well.

But the upgrade comes at a cost. Kuo claims the 24-megapixel camera system will be around 100-120% more expensive than the iPhone 15 series. Apple is sourcing the lens from the Taiwanese company Yujingguang. And the iPhone 17 series price will likely reflect the added expense.

While expensive, the sharper selfies from the 24-megapixel front camera should please social media users. Along with the rumoured upgrades like a 48-megapixel telephoto lens, the iPhone 17 camera will push beyond new boundaries. But we all have to wait till next year to see if the selfie camera upgrade is worth the high cost.
