Masimo Freedom Smartwatch – Specs, Price, and Availability

Masimo Freedom Smartwatch. Medical technology company Masimo recently unveiled its new smartwatch, the Masimo Freedom, at CES 2024. Coming on the heels of its lawsuit against Apple concerning proprietary patent infringement related to blood oxygen monitoring, the Freedom smartwatch signifies Masimo’s foray into the consumer wearables space.

Design and Features

The Freedom features a round display with a touch navigation bar on the right side and a select button for choosing items. Opting for its unique design rather than mimicking the style of the Apple Watch, Masimo aims to highlight the accuracy of its health-tracking technology over competitors.

The smartwatch continuously measures blood oxygen saturation, respiration rate, pulse rate, hydration levels, sleep patterns, and more. It can also detect falls and analyze pulse rate variability. Masimo touts measurement accuracy accounting for factors like low perfusion, motion, skin pigmentation, and poor blood flow.

With robust health tracking capabilities, the elderly and their caregivers are a target demographic for Masimo Freedom. However, its wide range of features also appeals to athletes, outdoor enthusiasts, and general health-conscious consumers wanting medical-grade health data.

Masimo Freedom Smartwatch Price and Availability

The Masimo Freedom smartwatch prototype was shown at CES 2024, but the final specs could change before launch later this year. Pricing is set at $999, given the medical-grade sensors and tracking abilities.

Masimo still needs FDA approval for the device’s health features before sales start. Consumers can reserve the smartwatch now on Masimo’s website with a $100 deposit.

The high price point pits it against the Apple Watch Ultra and Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. However, Masimo Freedom’s focus on medical accuracy, including blood oxygen monitoring, gives it a competitive edge among health-conscious smartwatch shoppers.
