Early pricing leaks indicate the base model 21 Pro could retail for as much as 6,000 Chinese Yuan, which converts to about USD 850. That positions it as a premium flagship phone compared to last year’s 20 Pro, which debuted at 3,999 Yuan ($570 USD) in China. The substantial price jump reflects upgraded specs and materials.

The Meizu 21 Pro is shaping to be an incredibly advanced smartphone for its price point. Leaks point to some of the fastest components available, including the brand-new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. This would make Meizu one of the first companies to utilize Qualcomm’s latest processor.

The display is said to be a 6.7″ QHD+ AMOLED with an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader for biometric authentication. A large 4,800mAh battery aims to deliver all-day endurance, with 80W wired charging for quick top-ups.

The rear camera system will also see major changes, with a new 50MP primary sensor joined by 12MP ultrawide and 8MP telephoto lenses. Meizu’s own AI software and tuning will look to maximize photographic quality and features.

Meizu Pivoting to AI and IoT Devices

Despite the cutting-edge parts going into the 21 Pro, there are indications this could be the company’s last major smartphone release. Meizu announced earlier that it had halted research into traditional mobile projects to focus more on AI and Internet of Things products instead.

If the 21 Pro indeed ends up being Meizu’s swan song phone, it looks set to go out on a high note by packing the latest must-have specifications and technology into a premium design. We’ll know if this represents the end of an era when Meizu takes the wraps off the device on February 29th.
